THE RETREAT
An old stone farm house renovated in natural architectural style, nestled in the verdant hills of Orvieto, is home to the Locanda della Quercia Calante, a charming natural holiday farm in Castel Giorgio, in the heart of Umbria. Entirely environmental-friendly, the holiday farm was built to satisfy those who want to regain energy and wellbeing on an authentic holistic vacation. For this reason, the Locanda della Quercia Calante uses solar energy for all holiday farm needs including an advanced climate control system and comfortable rooms without magnetic fields to ensure guest the utmost relax. A restaurant serving local cuisine with natural ingredients and a spring water pool with energizing properties, etc. are also available.
Holiday farm rooms are decorated in typical Umbrian style, with terracotta floors, wooden ceiling beams and brick walls while furnishings are a creative combination of classic and ethic to grace every room with charm and elegance.
The green park, surrounded by oaks and century-old plants, includes a spring water pool, a true privilege for Locanda della Quercia Calante guests. The only one of its kind at a holiday farm in Castel Giorgio, Orvieto and all of Umbria, the natural lake-shaped pool is surrounded by volcanic rock and divided into three pools on different levels connected by a system of rocky waterfalls. A place where guests discover true wellbeing, with a large whirlpool at the middle.
THE YOGA SPACE
There are 2 spaces that can be used for yoga. One is a 90 square meters fully Iyengar equipped room with oak wood floor, ropes on the wall, chairs, blocks, belts, pillows, bolsters, and yoga mats. There is also a stereo system and a computer projector and screen. The other has a terracotta floor and glass walls. Guests can also use the large gym overlooking the park.
TOURS & ACTIVITIES
The property is located 18 kilometers from Orvieto, in the province of Terni; it is the ideal spot for those who want a fully natural vacation, in an environmentally friendly atmosphere at a natural pace of life. Orvieto is a one of Italy’s jewels. Its position is on top of a mountain. of The mysterious Etruscan civilization left a sign of their presence, which is the many caves dug underneath the town. These caves were also used in Medieval time to store food and for other purposes. Now some of them host museums, others host very charming restaurants. The Duomo in Orvieto is also amazing, inside and out, especially the Chapel of St. Brizio, narrating the history of human beings.
Castel Giorgio (one kilometer away) is another interesting town to visit, known for its “wine and flavor roads in Umbria, Lazio and Tuscany.” It offers genuine local products (wine, mushrooms, truffles, cheese, extra virgin olive oil, etc.)
Once can also visit the numerous Etruscan holy sites, the crystal clear Lake Bolsena, the ancient Medieval villages like Civita di Bagnoregio, Sovana, Sorano, Pitigliano, etc. There are also numerous nearby SPAS such as the Medici San Casciano Bagni, or the romantic Bagno Vignoni.

Yes – a large one with jacuzzi and two round pools. Open from May to September (weather permitting.)
MEALS
The restaurant with a beautiful hearth in the dining room and delightful outdoor bower, preserves the typical farm house atmosphere. The cuisine is typical of Umbria and Tuscany, based on genuine products, fresh daily and naturally grown on the property farm. The wine list is also carefully inspired by natural principles: quality wines from small local vineyards that maintain tradition are kept in Fausto’s ancient wine cellar, dug in the tufa rock.
One can also use the catering service with various types of cuisine, ranging from traditional Italian and Umbrian to vegetarian, vegan and macrobiotic.
WEATHER
Best months are May, June, July, August, September. June and September’s temperature is in the 70s. August and July’s temperature is the 80s. Winter retreats are also possible at this location.
ACCOMMODATION
There are 14 rooms, which can be single, double, or triple. Each room has an outdoor porch overlooking the park.
All rooms were renovated with the most innovative natural architectural criteria: only natural mortar, paint and wax, no electromagnetic fields thanks to electric circuit breakers that ensure true relax; water is heated by a solar panel system and electricity is generated by photovoltaic panels.
