Borgo Pianello

THE RETREAT

Pianello is one of the oldest farms in Lizzano in Belvedere, with evidence of its existence dating as far back as 1000 B.C. With its splendid location in the Dardagna Valley, facing the Riva Mountains, Pianello provides historical testimony of the agricultural lifestyle of the surrounding regions. Totally immersed in a quiet and uncontaminated landscape, Pianello now offers the best opportunities for relaxing holidays. Guests are ensured the maximum of comfort in the farmhouse apartments, where all furnishings are chosen with care.

Every unit has a fully- equipped kitchen and fireplace, satellite TV/radio and Internet connection so that guests can enjoy their stay in harmony with nature.

The farmhouse offers ample private parking and a 10.000 square-meter lawn, together with a barbeque area and a children’s playground.

An organic garden, a swimming pool and a solarium complete the facilities at the guests’ disposal. The farm is immersed in the natural surroundings – including the vegetation and fauna of the Corno alle Scale Regional Park where it is not uncommon to spot deer, squirrels, wild boars, foxes, hawks and other animals of the valley.

THE YOGA SPACE

The charming meeting room, located in the refurbished barn, has a nice wooden floor, large windows, and is equipped with a screen for movies. Students need to bring their own mats and props.

TOURS & ACTIVITIES

This is the widest green oasis in the Emilia Romagna region, hosting several species of wild animals and vegetation. Guests can enjoy trekking, excursions, mountain bike and mushrooms and bilberry picking, all within a colorful natural setting. Just a 10-minute walk from Pianello, guests can find the splendid and mountainous Dardagna river. Originating in Corno alle Scale mountain, this river has impressive and natural waterfalls. Guests can enjoy fishing and swimming in its crystal clear waters, temperature permitting.

Nearby Pianello, visitors are recommended to check out the mountain towns of Monteacuto and Pianaccio, both perfectly preserved and constructed using local stones. In particular, the sanctuary of the Madonna dell’Acero (XIV century) and the villages of Poggiolforato, Farne’ and Casa Fiocchi are all interesting attractions in the area. The beautiful city of Bologna is just about one hour away.

Local productions of note include organic herbs, grappa, liquors, jams and honey. Everything is produced with raw materials from the region. Of particular interest are the products of “Giardino di Arcibaldo”, an artistic handicrafts company and manufacturer of dried flower compositions.

MEALS

The restaurant service offers guests an opportunity to savor the local cuisine, as well as an assortment of creative and natural dishes.

WEATHER

We recommend organizing the retreat between May and October. April is a little unpredictable; average temperature in he 50s, with possibility of warmer days and/or colder days.  Easter usually marks the day after which the days become longer than the nights so it is usually warmer after Easter. May can still be unpredictable but days are longer and usually a bit warmer.

June is usually warm but not hot.

July and August are usually quite warm, with temperatures between the upper 70s.  There is always a breeze up here in the mountains. September is a little cooler and a little unpredictable; October is cooler, averaging 50s, with warmer days at the beginning of the month.
